Interviewer : How do we have to understand the title of your new song New Beginning?

It's not so personnal. I just wanted a title to which people could identify themselves. I thought that every day was a new beginning which could lead to a new job, a new car, a new friend, a new love. I just wanted to talk about every day life.

Some rumours tell BZ are splitting or that they already did...

To be honest, if we already had split, we would have told the fans! As we respect them, we would have organized a press conference to explain the situation. We haven't, so, no, we won't split up. I can even tell you we met a couple of weeks ago to prepare a BZ tour for 2001. So, don't panick! What happens is that we take a one year break to go solo. I think everybody would understand we need a break after those 7 years we spent together all around the world!

During all those mad years, how did you keep your feet on the ground?

It wasn't too hard as I'm coming from nowhere. I come from a very poor family. So, I really appreciate what I get. I know what it is not have anything and I don't wanna live it again. I'm very careful with money.

How did you decide to tell you were gay?

Someone was ready to sell my story to make money. I think it's awful. It should be the concerned persons who should talk about it if they want it. My sexuality is private but that's not easy when you're famous. Asa I have told I was gay, it was all over the English papers and I hadn't a clue how the fans would react.

It shouldn't be easy to live...

I was very nervous and I was very scared 'cause I didn't know how the journalists would tell the story. Fortunately, the papers were very nice with me and nobody took the news badly. I'm very happy about it 'cause I'm simply Stephen, the one you think I am, a guy who try to be nice with the others. I think that when you try to do good things in your life,it comes back at you, in a way or another. I have been nice with people and they were nice back.

Did you talk with the other BZ members before taking your decision?

No 'cause it's my life. I live my life, they live theirs. They don't tell me what I have to do and I don't tell them what they have to do. I'm not a teenager anymore but an adult who can take his own life in his hands. Anyway, the guys always support me through all my decisions and they really were friends to me.

Everybody know there are lots of gays in the showbiz. Why are they so few out of the closet?

Gays are everywhere! They work in the banks, they're lawyers, firemen,... I understand they're discrete 'cause that's quite complicate to explain to your family and to your friends. So, imagine if you're a singer or an actor and that you have to explain it to the whole world...that's a big shock!"
